It’s time for a televised emergency briefing on the climate and nature crisis – introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts – as an essential step to unlock the wartime-scale response now required.
Knowledge is power
The climate and nature crisis is already reshaping life in Sussex and across the UK, but the solutions are in our hands. It’s time this was a national conversation, fuelled by the best available evidence and backed by government and communities.
What’s the National Emergency Briefing?
The first National Emergency Briefing on climate and nature was held in Westminster in the autumn of 2025, in front of hundreds of politicians. There some of the UK’s foremost experts in their fields outlined how the climate and nature crisis is set to affect life in the UK, in areas such as:
- Health
- Defence
- Food security
- Economics
- Nature
- Weather
Each talk warned of great dangers of our present course, while also sharing some of the known solutions that could steer us into brighter futures.

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a 50-minute film hosted by Chris Packham that brings highlights from experts updates on the impact of the climate and nature crises.
Communities all across Sussex have been showing the film, in village halls, local cinemas, churches and workplaces. Sussex Wildlife Trust has hosted three screenings so far, for staff, volunteers and the local community at Rye Harbour.
The more people see the film, the closer we get to the tipping point where real action becomes unstoppable.
Action 2: Check your MP backs a televised national briefing
Over 150 MPs are calling on the Government to stage a live, televised emergency briefing, via a Parliamentary Call and a supporting Early Day Motion.
