Nature for all

Nature belongs to all of us. But for too many people, wild spaces can feel unwelcoming, unsafe, inaccessible, or simply out of reach. Sussex Wildlife Trust is working to change that.

Why we’re doing it

Nature needs everyone

When more people feel genuinely welcome in nature, everyone gains. Sussex’s wild places grow richer when more people care for them, and our communities grow richer too. Sussex’s wild places belong to everyone, and Sussex Wildlife Trust is committed to making sure they stay that way.

What we’re doing

Building a stronger, more inclusive and diverse organisation

Connecting people with nature means confronting the reasons why so many feel excluded from it. Disability, ethnicity, income, age, language, confidence, experience, time, safety – these all shape whether someone feels that nature is a space that welcomes them.

We know the conservation sector has not always reflected the diversity of the communities it serves, and we’re committed to doing better. That means listening to Sussex’s communities, removing practical barriers to participation, and making sure our spaces, events and communications feel genuinely inclusive. It means collaborating with people as partners – and not just acting as guardians of nature on their behalf.
