Sussex’s sea is home to an incredible variety of wildlife and valuable marine habitats, but they are under threat from pollution, overfishing and habitat loss.
The damage done to our marine wildlife is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time, but decline is not inevitable. By monitoring and collecting evidence can we give them a voice and help protect them.

We work together with volunteer divers and snorkellers to record marine wildlife and habitats beneath the waves.
The evidence collected helps us campaign for stronger protection of Sussex’s seas and has contributed to securing protection for Sussex’s nine Marine Conservation Zones.

Our Shoresearch programme surveys Sussex’s shores and beaches, collecting valuable information about coastal wildlife and habitats.
This data helps us understand environmental change, identify threats and support better protection for our coastline.
