Read what this former Youth Ranger thought about volunteering with us
“When looking back on my degree, Youth Rangers will be one of my fondest memories. Volunteering with the wildlife trust created a new dynamic to my English degree which enabled me to create and develop different skill sets that my degree had not given the opportunity to do so prior to the involvement with the trust. I was able to learn about the importance of conservation and looking after the environment in a fun, relaxed and friendly environment with a variety of individuals from different walks of life. The voluntary scheme primarily helped me develop my environmental understanding and appreciation and also my communication and team building skills.
Most importantly, the Youth Rangers scheme gave me a crucial insight into seeing the huge benefits of combining working with the natural environment and educational and social interaction in all ages, from primary school level to university level.” M. Smith July 2016
The Deneway Community Nature Reserve
Thanks to the Coop Local Community Fund and local Coop members we have been able to create our first Community Nature Reserve at The Deneway, turning a disused space into a real community asset where people and wildlife can thrive together in an urban environmental space.
