Storrington & Arun Valley Regional Group

The Storrington & Arun Valley Regional Group was formed in April 2021. We held our first AGM on Saturday 7th May 2022.
Currently we have 3 key officers: Chair Viviane Doussy; Treasurer Sue Ewers and Secretary Phil Huggins ably supported by 4 other committee members: Jerry Lindsey (Surveys and Monitoring), Julie Gamlin (Members projects), Christine Lindsay (Special projects) and Erika Jakins (General help).
This group supports the Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) by communicating with its associated communities and implementing the Trust’s strategy, plans and objectives at a local level. We provide direct and tangible support ‘on the ground’ to SWT’s key initiatives and projects – including specialist species expertise, physical habitat improvement and other aspects where the group is able to do so.
We work closely with existing wildlife and conservation groups, societies and Councils, actively seeking ways in which we can collaborate for the benefit of wildlife and the environment.
Any SWT members can join the group, although the majority of our events will be held in the part of the county West of the A24 and east of, and including Petworth, south of Horsham and north of the Downs. Some of our events will, also, be open for non-SWT members to attend.
Each year a programme of activities will be put together including indoor meetings, online talks and training sessions and outdoor guided reserve visits and other walks.
Details of upcoming events will be posted on this web page, as well as our Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/savrg
If you would like to join our group and receive our monthly bulletins, please email your details to: [email protected]
We have 6 ongoing projects which you can join up to: Gardens, Road verges, Churchyards, Swifts, Trees and Invasive species.
Each project has a specific committee lead.
