Mosaic Workshop: Create Your Own Bird Masterpiece - Rye Harbour (11/05/25) Sunday, 11th May 2025 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Join us to craft a beautiful bird design using colourful glass, ceramic and china. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this full-day workshop is a relaxing and creative way to explore a timeless art form. On arrival, you'll be treated to tea or coffee and sweet treats. At the end of the day, you'll take home your handmade mosaic bird to display or make a gorgeous gift.
Learn the basics of mosaic art, from selecting materials and cutting tiles, to arranging and grouting your unique creation. Choose in advance from one of these birds of the nature reserve: Kingfisher, Bittern, Oystercatcher, Sandwich Tern, Swallow, Shelduck, Barn Owl or Raven. This workshop is aimed at adults and ages 16 upwards. Under 18's need to be accompanied by an adult.
Sussex-based artist Hannah has been making mosaics for more than 20 years, she’s an experienced teacher with a passion for sharing her craft. See her website or Instagram page.
Materials will be provided, but if you have any particular china you'd like to include in your mosaic, please bring it along. There will be a short lunch break, our café is open from 9.30am until 4.15pm serving refreshments and light lunches.

Accessibility: Cutting mosaic pieces can be more difficult for those with less manual strength. However, there will be a wide range of fragments available and Hannah will be on hand to help, making the workshop suitable for all abilities. Rye Harbour Discovery Centre is a wheelchair-friendly venue, with a step-free entrance ramp. Our toilet facilities include two that are wheelchair accessible.
