Willow Weaving Workshop: Make Your Own Plant Support - Rye Harbour (26/04/25) Saturday, 26th April 2025 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Tutor: Julie Gurr
Join us and learn how to craft your own woven plant supports on this one-day workshop at Rye Harbour Discovery Centre. Experienced willow weaver Julie Gurr will teach you how to weave one small and one large plant support using sustainably sourced, locally grown willow - ideal for growing sweet peas, beans or other climbing plants. You'll be able to take your pieces away with you at the end of the day, so please ensure you have space to transport them.
Julie Gurr has more than 20 years of experience as a basket weaver and is inspired by basketry techniques from different cultures, as well as the natural environment and the materials it provides. Julie is based in East Sussex and grows the willow she uses near her home in Iden, see her website and her Instagram page.
