Beavers and Pine Martens have been missing from the Sussex countryside for over one hundred years. 

With flood mitigation now costing the UK over £2 billion a year and biodiversity loss continuing at an alarming rate, could the reintroduction of these, and other species, be part of the solution? 

This talk will cover some of the principles of species reintroductions, with a particular focus on keystone species recovery. Learn about these wonderful animals, the benefits they bring to both people and wildlife and the work that Sussex Wildlife Trust is involved with to bring them back to our county.

Matt Phelps previously worked as Species Recovery Officer for the Sussex Wildlife Trust, focussing on Beaver and Pine Marten reintroductions, before joining Knepp as their lead ecologist. A keen birder and writer, he is a regular speaker on a range of conservation topics.
