Willow Weaving Workshop: Make a Hanging Bird Feeder - Rye Harbour (01/03/25) Saturday, 1st March 2025 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Tutor: Julie Gurr
Join us and learn how to craft your own woven bird feeder using some simple willow weaving techniques on this half-day workshop at Rye Harbour Discovery Centre.
Experienced willow weaver Julie Gurr will teach you how to weave a small hanging basket to put fat balls in. Your basket could also be filled with sheeps' wool, for birds to use as nesting material, or used in the home, such as for storing garlic.
You’ll use willow grown locally, without chemicals and discover a little about growing and preparing willow for weaving. The class is also a chance to have a go at willow weaving before committing to completing a full-size basket.
Julie grows the willow she uses near her home in Iden, East Sussex. See her website and her Instagram page.
