Painted China Workshop: Insects and Seed heads - Rye Harbour (29/09/24) Sunday, 29th September 2024 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Join Sussex-based artist Elaine Baker to learn the technique of using a pen and ink to create your own nature-inspired design on a glazed china surface. Elaine will bring along images and examples of her own illustrations to inspire you, as well as seed heads collected from the local area. Participants are welcome to bring along their own images and foliage on the day too.
You can either create a design on one mug and a coaster, or create a set of four coasters. There will be plenty of time to practice and refine your designs and all items will be kiln fired after the workshop, to make designs permanent. Items will then be available to collect from the Discovery Centre a week later (postage will not be possible).
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced painters.
Elaine has more than 30 years of experience as a porcelain painter, she loves to pass on her skills to others and has travelled all over the country teaching other china painters. Much of her inspiration comes from nature, particularly the variety of shapes, sizes, colours and textures of insects, see her Instagram page.
The day will include a break for lunch. Our café will be open all day if you would like to buy lunch here, otherwise please bring it along with you.
