An Introduction to Birdwatching - Rye Harbour (27/09/24)

Rye Harbour is renowned for its magnificent bird life where more than 280 species have been recorded. Many have significant breeding populations on the reserve but others are migratory, stopping to refuel during epic journeys of flight. There will undoubtedly be many birds to both see and hear, but do you know what they are? 

Baffled by Birds of Prey? Confused by Crows? Flummoxed by Finches? If you need a walk-through on Waders or guidance with your Gulls, this is the event for you. We'll begin with a short session on the effective use of binoculars to maximise your viewing experiences. Then join us for a circular walk of approximately 3km (2 miles) as we visit a few of the bird hides to get excellent views of seabirds, ducks and a whole lot more.

This event is suitable for beginners and there'll be plenty of opportunities to ask questions as we walk around. No previous knowledge or experience necessary. Binoculars are highly recommended, though we may have a few pairs available on the day.

Accessibility: Our circular walk will start and end at Rye Harbour Discovery Centre, a wheelchair friendly venue, with a step-free entrance ramp. Our toilet facilities include two that are wheelchair accessible.
