Tutor: Mike Russell
Monday 6th and Thursday 9th June 2022 - Zoom talk and field trips
Hearing the enigmatic song of the Nightjar drifting across a heathland at sunset is one of England’s great wildlife experiences.
In this special two-part course we will shine a light onto the life of this incredible and mysterious bird.
The course starts with an evening online zoom session (6 June) where you will learn all about the life history and folklore surrounding the Nightjar.
The second part of the course will be an evening field trip (9 June) where we will hopefully hear the Nightjar’s strange song as it is broadcast across the darkening heathland and we’ll try to catch a glimpse of this elusive bird itself. The field trip will at Sussex Wildlife Trust's Old Lodge reserve on Ashdown Forest.
No experience of birds or birdwatching necessary
