Sussex Wildlife Trust is working hard for nature at this challenging time but we can only do so with your support.

Rye Harbour Nature Tots Pilot Session (19/05/2021) Wednesday, 19th May 2021 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Wednesday 19 May – with Natasha

Suitable for children aged 3-5 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  ADULTS FREE OF CHARGE

Bring your little ones along for weekly family fun in Rye Bay. We shall be using Pett Level and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve as venues for outdoor activities and games. Our activities will connect with the beach environment and the tides, providing a wonderful opportunity for your little ones to experience and learn from nature. Children and parents will be engaged in hands-on outdoor activities themed around wildlife in a coastal setting. The sessions will encourage independent learning and team working – all of which will help to boost communication skills, problem solving, physical development and creativity. This is child-led learning and the role of the accompanying adults is to assist the Tots in doing as much of the task for themselves as possible.

We go outside rain or shine, so please dress for the weather and be ready to get wet and muddy! We sometimes build shelters and also have a quick shelter in case of showers. It is essential that the children are appropriately dressed as the temperature can be a little cooler on the beach, and on the reserve, long trousers and stout shoes or boots are recommended. So why not come along and give it a go!

NEW NATURE TOTS GROUP GUIDELINES ARE IN PLACE IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS

As you are aware, the Coronavirus pandemic means that we have to be extremely careful about taking care of the health and wellbeing of all staff, volunteers and participants at our events. We will provide a bottle of sanitiser so all attendees (staff, volunteers, parents and children) must thoroughly sanitise their hands before and after the session, and during as required.  We have restricted numbers of attendees and will facilitate activities in order that separate households can maintain social distancing as much as is practically possible, while enjoying their time with us. However, the responsibility will remain with the attending adult to take on the management of distancing of themselves and their children as follows:

  • Parent manages 2m distancing of themselves from adults and children (other than their own) at all times.
  • Parent manages 2m distancing of their children from other adults (unless adult agrees and is wearing a face mask, e.g. staff member demonstrating tool use)
  • Parent encourages 1m+ distancing between their child and other children, minimising mixing as much as is practically possible. If children move within 1m of each other, they will be sensitively encouraged to move apart.

We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the group if they do not comply with our terms and conditions so we ask that you please read the following information carefully BEFORE booking

Parent Comment:

‘I wanted to send an email to say a sincere thank you. Amber and I are absolutely loving Nature Tots with you.  We are both learning so much!  The opportunity for Amber to use a saw, a drill, proper binoculars and a telescope is wonderful.  She had no trouble at all tackling the drill with her Dad, to build our compost bin at the allotment ;-) Thank you also for remembering, and being so thoughtful as to find a vegetarian alternative to marshmallows for Amber.  You really are awesome!  Can’t wait for the next session’.  Dianne
