Forest School

The ethos of Forest School is based on a fundamental respect for children and young people and for their capacity to instigate, test and maintain curiosity in the world around them. At Sussex Wildlife Trust we believe in each child’s right to play; right to access risk; right to access the outdoors and the vibrant reality of the natural world.

Our Forest School Programmes for schools and community groups aim to allow children and young people to develop independence, resilience, confidence, motivation and a love and understanding of wildlife and nature through our considered approach to learning and development.

Our Forest School Training prepares those who share our belief and would like to inspire and support children, young people and others in a similar way.

Sussex Wildlife Trust planted a forest school seed with us which together we nurtured and grew. With support, encouragement and training from SWT, Forest School is now strongly embedded into our curriculum and is at the heart of our school ethos. Our children love every minute of it; as one of our 4 year olds said “I forgot I was at school!
