Planning your visit
Educational visits to Woods Mill take place throughout the year between 10am and 2.30pm, Mondays and Tuesdays.
How the day is organised
Each class will be divided into groups for the day to explore the nature reserve. We provide a leader and a helper for each working group to guide you around, introduce the activities and discuss any points of health and safety. The children will take part in hands-on activities and games, with a break for lunch at 12 o’clock. We recommend that the children bring a morning snack with them and they can eat this in the classroom during our welcome introduction.
First Aid
Schools are responsible for providing and administering their own first aid. Please ensure that children bring any medication they may require with them.
Risk Assessments
Ticks & Lyme Disease
Picnic Facilities
School groups should bring their own packed lunches. In good weather, you can make use of our picnic tables and blankets. If the weather is unsuitable, you have use of the classrooms.
We encourage the children to put suitable food waste in our compost bins but ask you to take all other lunch packaging back to school.
Wet Weather
We will try to get out on to the nature reserve in all weathers, unless it is unsafe to do so. If we are unable to, we will provide indoor wildlife activities in our on-site classrooms.
