Woods Mill Education Centre

Unfortunately, we are not currently taking bookings for school visits to Woods Mill.

We are aiming to restart our education offer at this site in October and will update the website when bookings are available.

We are sorry that we can’t welcome you during this time and hope to see you again in the future.

Woods Mill is the headquarters of the Sussex Wildlife Trust. The 44 acre Nature Reserve covers a variety of habitats including meadow with hedgerow, freshwater and woodland. Most of the reserve is now accessible by wheelchair. There is a classroom with a wide range of equipment for indoor and outdoor studies suitable for all age groups.

Our activities and games are designed to support aspects of the National Curriculum, but we also want the children to have a wider sense and enjoyment of the natural world around them. We encourage the children to explore their surroundings and we foster their interests in the wildlife they discover. Our leaders enjoy sharing their particular wildlife passion and knowledge, and hope to inspire visitors to make wildlife part of their everyday lives.

At the end of the day each child will be given a free child’s pack, which will contain a wildlife watch magazine, a sheet of stickers and a leaflet about Sussex Wildlife Trust.

Woods Mill is situated on the east side of the A2037 about 1.5 miles south of Henfield at the junction with Horn Lane. There is a car park with room for two coaches.

“The children had a fantastic time – the embedded knowledge of staff and volunteers was outstanding, thank you they absolutely loved it!”
