It's time to bin the 'Bulldozer Bill'
The Retained EU Law (REUL) Bill is back in Parliament next week as it enters Report Stage on Wednesday 18 January, giving MPs an opportunity to Defend Nature by shining a light on the flaws and risks this damaging bill presents.
We have today written again to all Sussex MPs asking them to attend on Wednesday, and to urge the government to scrap the REUL Bill.
Now dubbed the ‘Bulldozer Bill’, it is an attack on nature and threatens more than a thousand laws that protect the environment. It could destroy laws that protect our most precious wild places and the wildlife that depends on them, as well as regulations for water and air quality, and laws that impact people’s health, safety and welfare.
This attack could not come at a worse time. We are suffering a nature and climate emergency and the environment now needs more protection, not less. That’s why we’re urging MPs and the government to bin the ‘Bulldozer Bill’ now – before it’s too late.
