Commemorative bird plaques

We are rarely able to place benches on our land or plant trees in memory, but are often asked of other ways to commemorate loved ones on our nature reserves.

We have now established memorial areas at Woods Mill and Rye Harbour Nature Reserves where we offer commemorative bird shaped plaques.

Woods Mill Nature Reserve

Our Woods Mill memorial bird hide is located in a quiet and peaceful spot at the heart of the reserve. For in-memory gifts of £400 or more we offer small wooden plaques in the shape of birds, inscribed with the name and dates of the person being remembered. There are a number of bird silhouettes to choose from, which over time have formed a flock on the internal wall of the hide.

*Please note* the bird hide at Woods Mill is currently closed. We are looking to replace it, and for all the existing memorial plaques to be reinstalled on a new wall.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is a special place for so many people and we have now created a memorial area just outside the Discovery Centre, adjacent to the outdoor seating area. For in-memory donations of £500 or more we offer Lapwing shaped stainless steel plaques inscribed with a personalised inscription.

Bird plaques at both Woods Mill and Rye Harbour are maintained for a 10 year period.
