Help Nature Thrive!
We’re launching our Species Recovery Fund to strengthen our work restoring vital habitats for endangered species.
With your support, we will build innovative projects and create wildlife corridors that allow our precious species to thrive and recover. Together, we can bring new life to our landscapes and restore hope for the nature.
Here are just two examples of the projects we are working on as part of our Species Recovery plan.
Farmers help us restore important wetlands
The Pevensey Levels Wetland Creation Project in East Sussex focuses on restoring marshland habitats to support declining species such as waders and wildfowl. In collaboration with over 60 farmers, landowners, and local people, the project aims to enhance biodiversity while improving flood resilience and contributing to carbon storage.
Species reintroduction
Beavers are a keystone species who help with natural flood management, wildlife recovery, improving water quality, and much more. Currently they are not permitted to be released into the wild, however we hope this will soon change and that we can restore this important species back to Sussex and breathe new life into depleted wetlands. We are working with local landowners and on our own reserves to find suitable habitats for future releases and making sure these sites are ‘Beaver ready’.
We have a duty to restore elements missing from the landscape and make Sussex a haven for nature once more. Your support for our Species Recovery Fund will enable us to restore vital habitats and bring back the rich biodiversity that defines our beautiful region. Together, we can make a lasting difference for nature in Sussex.
