Bringing wildlife back to the Pevensey Levels – An ambitious landscape restoration project (17/02/25) Monday, 17th February 2025 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Speaker: Charlotte Pestell, Project Officer

If you have recently glanced inland whilst driving along the A259 between Pevensey roundabout and Little Common, you may have spotted the appearance of some large muddy puddles.

These are, in fact, recently dug scrapes and form part of the ambitious Pevensey Levels Wetland Creation Project led by Sussex Wildlife Trust and National Highways, that will restore marshland habitats to support declining species such as waders and wildfowl.

In collaboration with over 60 farmers, landowners, and local people, the project aims to enhance biodiversity while improving flood resilience and contributing to carbon storage.

During this webinar, Sussex Wildlife Trust Project Officer, Charlotte Pestell, will introduce the Pevensey Marshes Nature Reserve and explain why this is such an important area for wildlife. You will hear about the work being undertaken to restore these wetlands and the exciting vision for its future. There will also be an opportunity to hear from local farmers involved in the project, as they share their passion for the land they farm and care for.
