Members-only event: Discover Old Lodge (16/08/24) Friday, 16th August 2024 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Members-only event
Leader: James Duncan
Old Lodge lies within the heart of the Ashdown Forest. It comprises a wide-open landscape of heather and grassland, dotted with gorse, birch, oak and scots pine. It sits higher than the surrounding West Sussex heaths, giving it a cooler, damper climate more representative of northern upland moors. Join us for a circular walk of approximately 4-5km looking for heathland birds, dragonflies, reptiles and other wildlife followed by refreshments.
The walk will be at a gentle pace but please be aware that it includes some hills (one quite steep).
Please note: This is a members-only event. Booking essential
The Old Lodge nature reserve is situated on the west side of the B2026 between Maresfield and Hartfield, about a third of a mile north of the junction with the B2188 at Kings Standing.
Postcode: TN22 3JD
We will meet at the Old Lodge Car Park. Please note Car park charges at Old Lodge Car Park now apply.
There are no public toilets at the reserve.
