An Evening with Nightjars (East Sussex) - (17/06/2024) Monday, 17th June 2024 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Tutor: Mike Russell
Hearing the enigmatic song of the Nightjar drifting across a heathland at sunset is one of England’s great wildlife experiences.
In this special two-part course we will shine a light onto the life of this incredible and mysterious bird.
The course starts with an online zoom meeting on Thursday 13th June where you will learn all about the life history and folklore surrounding the Nightjar.
The second part of the course will be an evening field trip where we will hopefully hear the Nightjar’s strange song as it is broadcast across the darkening heathland and we’ll try to catch a glimpse of this elusive bird itself.
No experience of birds or birdwatching necessary.
Location: Old Lodge, Ashdown Forest, East Sussex. Details of meeting point will be sent nearer the time.
