Rockpooling for Beginners (04/02/24) Sunday, 4th February 2024 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Wild Coast Sussex event for 16 to 25 year olds
Rockpooling for beginners, beach clean and mermaids purse hunt with Wild Coast Sussex
Wild Coast Sussex are running a free session for 16-25 year olds on Sunday the 4th February 2024, 10am-2:30pm on Rottingdean Beach.
This is part of Sussex Youth in Nature, an events programme for young people from Sussex Wildlife Trust. These are free and accessible events and workshops for 16-25 year olds based at various locations across Sussex. They offer the opportunity to learn more about nature through craft, conservation, and species identification.
On this session we are pleased to be collaborating with Wild Coast Sussex on a rockpooling, beach clean, and mermaids purse session.
We will teach you how to identify rockpool species, how to identify mermaid’s purses and record them with the Shark Trust, and how to conduct a beach litter survey. The training is free of charge and we will supply equipment, but please ensure you bring the following:
- Lunch, snacks, and water (there is also a cafe nearby)
- Pen and paper if you would like to make notes
- Suitable footwear for a shingle beach and rockpools (may get wet)
- Suitable clothing for the weather, rain or shine
