Beginning Birdwatching - Rye Harbour (16/12/22) - FULLY BOOKED Friday, 16th December 2022 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Leader: James Duncan
Rye Harbour is renowned for its magnificent bird life where more than 280 species have been recorded. Many have significant breeding populations on the reserve but others are migratory, stopping to refuel during epic journeys of flight. There will undoubtedly be many birds to both see and hear, but do you know what they are? Discombobulated by Ducks? Flummoxed by Finches? Confused by Crows? If you need a walk-through on Waders or guidance with your Gulls, this is the event for you. Join us for a circular walk of approximately 3km as we visit a few of the hides to get excellent views of seabirds, ducks and a whole lot more.
Binoculars are strongly recommended, though we may have a few pairs available on the day.
Meet at Rye Harbour Discovery Centre, just a short walk from Rye Harbour village car park (next to the Martello Tower). The nearest postcode is TN31 7TX and the harbour itself is two miles SE of Rye town.
NOTE: If you’re walking from Rye (the railway station) to Rye Harbour, there is a footpath from Brede Lock (on Harbour Road) along an old railway line that avoids walking the whole length of the road.
SORRY BUT THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
