Stories in Pictures from a Coastal Landscape - Rye - Six workshop sessions (25/11/2022) Friday, 25th November 2022 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Writing the short screenplay for aspiring writers and complete beginners
This six-session course will take place on Friday mornings between 10:00 and 13:00 on the following dates: 25/11/22, 16/12/22, 20/01/23, 24/02/23, 24/03/23, 28/04/23
The short film, once considered merely a calling card for aspiring feature filmmakers, is now an art form in its own right. And with professional standard recording and editing features now on the phones in our pockets they are much easier and more affordable to make. Anyone can have a go!
So come and connect with and be inspired by the beauty of The Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, with its rich tapestry of coastal habitats and military history to find your voice and express it with stories in pictures. Over the course of six monthly workshops you will be guided through the crafting of your own short screenplay from initial idea to final draft, culminating in a celebration of your work at the centre in the spring.
About the Tutor
Lou Gerring
Lou grew up in the West Oxfordshire countryside but has always been drawn to wild, coastal landscapes. She now lives in St Leonards and is really excited and honoured to have the opportunity to work with aspiring writers in such a special part of Sussex.
Her first short film script, ‘Love in the Afternoon’ was awarded Film London funding and starred Georgia Taylor - Toyah from Coronation Street! It was subsequently distributed by Shorts International, playing on TV screens across far flung parts of Europe. Since then she has had several feature screenplays optioned and many more relegated to a bottom drawer! Most recently in 2022, she wrote and co-produced the short ‘In Which Loneliness Suffers a Loss’ filmed in Hastings with local director, Cheryl White. It is currently screening at festivals and has already won some awards. She also teaches Secondary English and Literature.
Meet at Rye Harbour Discovery Centre, Rye Harbour, Rye, TN31 7FW. at 10am.
