Introduction to Hedgelaying, Crawley (07/11/2020) - CANCELLED Saturday, 7th November 2020 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
THIS COURSE IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
Tutor: Tom Simpson
Hedgelaying is a traditional rural skill used to create a stock-proof field barrier and hedgerows are also an important habitat for many species of wildlife. Whether you have a large area of land or a relatively small garden the addition of a hedgerow can serve as an attractive, functional feature which will also benefit birds, insects, small mammals and many other species.
In this practical one-day course Tom Simpson will introduce all aspects of hedge laying and teach the basic skills required to lay a hedge. We will identify suitable tree species and hedges, use traditional hand tools to grub-out, pleach, stake and bind a hedge.
This course requires no previous knowledge or experience and is well suited to anyone wishing to try hedge-laying for the first.
