Half Day Bird Safari - Lewes Levels & Newhaven Tidemills (26/02/2020) Wednesday, 26th February 2020 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Tutor: Mike Russell
Our half-day bird safaris are the perfect way to learn more about the wonderful birdlife and wild habitats found in Sussex. Each safari is aimed at beginners and gives you the chance to learn about birds and bird identification while visiting some of the best sites in Sussex at a time of year when they are at their best for birdwatching.
This is a two-site based safari. We will first visit part of the Lewes Levels to look for a range of wintering birds and can hold good numbers of wildfowl in wetter years. Also, we hope to see flocks of wintering thrushes, finches, larks and buntings while in some years Short-eared Owls overwinter.
We will then travel about 7- miles to Newhaven Tidemills for a short coastal birdwatch but specifically look for Purple Sandpipers, the most reliable site for this species in Sussex.
No previous knowledge or skills required, just enthusiasm! These courses are popular. If they are fully booked please request to be placed on the waiting list as we may run more (email email@example.com)
