Sussex Wildlife Trust is working hard for nature at this challenging time but we can only do so with your support.

Walk (in Pooh Bear country) - Everybody Welcome - Hartfield (12/10/2019) Saturday, 12th October 2019 9:45 AM - 3:30 PM

Meet at the Anchor Inn, Church St, Hartfield TN7 4AG (Explorer Map 135: TQ 478357) ready for a 9.45 departure. The pub will be open from 9.30 for use of their facilities, purchasing hot drinks and placing orders for lunch before we start. (note that the on-line menu is only a guide).

The morning walk is just over four miles and starts along the High Weald Landscape Trail before turning into The Forest Way. This disused railway line takes us over the River Medway before returning along open farmland and woods and we hope to see some interesting wildlife. We will walk up the side of the Medway valley where we will have magnificent views (weather permitting) across the Weald to the south.

Following lunch, at approximately 14.15, we will drive one and a half miles to the Chuck Hatch car park (TQ 471333) off B2026 to the south of Hartfield. This will be the starting point for our β€œnostalgic” walk down to Pooh Sticks Bridge. This downhill walk is less than a mile. We will return along the same (uphill this time!) path to the car park. (Note. There are no sticks available at the bridge so collect sticks along the walk to use at the bridge, should you so wish).

All are welcome to both walks but there is always the option to come along for either just the morning or afternoon.

Walk led by Jan and Irwin (Tel: 01293 883814 or 07808 720887 on the day)
