Sussex Wildlife Trust is working hard for nature at this challenging time but we can only do so with your support.

Walk - Everybody Welcome: For An Out of County Experience! - Lymington (14/09/2019) Saturday, 14th September 2019 9:45 AM - 3:30 PM

Do join us for an 'away weekend' in the New Forest.

Meet in the car park of The Hobler Inn, Southampton Road, Battramsley, Lymington, SO41 8PT (Explorer Map OL22: SZ 306990) at 9.30 for a planned start at 9.45. We have arranged with the proprietor for it to be open for coffee, use of the facilities and to pre order lunch before we set off. Nearer the time, menus and specials board details will be posted.

The easy, morning walk of about four miles is across common heath land with the prospect of spectacular views. The interesting habitat is home to a number of birds and we may see a Dartford warbler. More likely is that we will have close views of the famous New Forest ponies and possibly the less well-known New Forest donkeys.

The afternoon walk is a short drive away to Whitley Wood where we will be joined by a New Forest Ranger who will give us a briefing and answer questions. This will be another easy walk, of about two miles, through delightful, mixed woodland.

A group of people, making a weekend of it, are already booked into the Cloud Hotel (Meerut Rd, Brockenhurst, New Forest SO42 7TD). An evening meal has been arranged at the Cloud for the group on Friday (September 13th). Anyone not staying at the Cloud is very welcome to join us but please contact the walk leader, John ([email protected]), in advance so that he can make arrangements with the hotel.

All are welcome to both walks but there is always the option to come along for either just the morning or afternoon.
