Walk - Everybody Welcome - Rowhook, nr Horsham (10/08/2019) Saturday, 10th August 2019 9:45 AM - 3:30 PM

Meet at The Chequers, Rowhook, ( RH12 3PY, Explorer Map 134 TQ 123342) please park in the β€˜top’ car park on the grass.

The village of Rowhook is west of the A29, close to Horsham. From Horsham travel north-west on the A281 to its junction with the A29. Here turn right onto the A29 towards London, then, after about 300m turn left into Rowhook Road, which leads to the village.

The pub will be open from 9:30 to take our orders for lunch and allow us to use the facilities. Please arrive in time to do this and to be ready to set off at 9:45.

Our morning walk, through some delightful broad leaf woodland and open countryside, is a little over four miles. We will walk on green lanes and tracks, a section of Stane Street (the old Roman Road), and on the Sussex Border Path. At this time of year there are often large numbers of ripe blackberries by the route.

We will return to the Chequers for lunch about 12.30.

The afternoon walk of three miles, will be in similar surroundings and includes views over a picturesque reservoir and a most delightful broad woodland path. A small section of this walk can be muddy, especially after rain, in which case walking or wellington boots are recommended.

You are welcome to do only the morning or afternoon walks if you wish.
