Walk - Everyone Welcome (15/06/2019) Saturday, 15th June 2019 9:45 AM - 3:30 PM
The Walks are led and guided for between 3 and 5 miles in the morning, with an optional, shorter walk after lunch. The pace is steady and allows time to stop and enjoy the wildlife. Sturdy walking boots and outdoor clothing is recommended.
Meet in the car park at the rear of the Onslow Arms, Loxwood, West Sussex, RH14 0RD (Explorer Map 134 TQ 041312).
The pub will open up at 9.15, enabling us to order our meals for lunchtime, use the facilities and have a cup of tea or coffee before we set off.
We will start the three-and-a-half-mile morning walk at 9.45 and go along the Wey-Arun Canal past Brewhurst Lock (restored in 1997) and the Drungewick Aqueduct, returning through woodland and meadows. We will pass a newly restored mill on the outskirts of a picturesque hamlet and re-join the Canal, returning to the pub for our meal at around 12.30.
The afternoon walk (around three miles) is to the north east of Loxwood and will take us on footpaths through woodland and fields. We will re-join the Canal path for a short stretch, before returning to the pub.
Both walks are pretty level and easy, but after rain the woodland can be muddy and so boots are recommended.
Join our leaders Derek and Sarah for either the morning, afternoon or both walks. Contact details: 01252 514163, and (on the day only) 07763 580438.
