Bird Safari – Pagham Harbour and Medmerry RSPB Reserves (3/5/19) Friday, 3rd May 2019 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
We will spend the day at 3 locations at these 2 close-by RSPB reserves today. We will look over the Ferry Pool near the Visitor Centre, spending some time at Church Norton and then walking down to the Stilt Pools and Beach at Medmerry. Meeting at the Visitor, where we go depends on the tide conditions at the time, and look to share transport from the Centre to drive to Church Norton and Medmerry.
This day long safari is timed for newly arriving summer migrants along with waders who are stopping off on their way to their breeding grounds further north. We also hope to see the avocets starting their breeding season down on the Stilt Pools at Medmerry
No previous knowledge or skills required, just enthusiasm!
Meet at Pagham Harbour Visitor Centre, PO20 7NE. From the A27 at Chichester, take the B2145 south towards Selsey. After half a mile at the first roundabout, turn right continuing to follow the B2145 to Selsey (do NOT take the B2166 to Pagham village - the Visitor Centre is on the opposite side of the Harbour). Continue along the B2145 for 5 miles through the long villages of Hunston and Sidlesham.
On leaving Sidlesham, the speed limit increases from 30 mph to 50 mph - the turning into the Visitor Centre car park is in half a mile on the left-hand side, and is signed.
