Sussex Wildlife Trust is working hard for nature at this challenging time but we can only do so with your support.

Walk - Everybody Welcome (09/03/2019) Tuesday, 5th March 2019 9:45 AM - 3:00 PM

The Walks are led and guided for between 3 and 5 miles in the morning, with an optional, shorter walk after lunch. The pace is steady and allows time to stop and enjoy the wildlife. Sturdy walking boots and outdoor clothing is recommended.’

Meet in good time for a 9:45 departure from the car park at the side of the Eight Bells car park, High Street, Jevington, East Sussex BN26 5QB (Explorer Map 123: TQ 562017). The landlord has requested that we use the part of the car park furthest from the pub and that we double park where possible.

The pub will be open from 9:15 so that we can have time for a coffee whilst ordering our lunch. Toilet facilities will be available.

For your information, details of the Eight Bells can be found at

The morning walk is approximately three miles with two stiles and takes us up onto the Downs via the South Downs Way. The walk starts with a steady incline along part of the South Downs Way up to the ridge where we pick up the Weald Way and the 1066 Country Walk. There are splendid views, weather permitting, out to the coast in three directions. This is an SSSI and we hope to see some interesting flora and fauna. At the start of the walk we will pass through the unusual Tapsel Gate (unique to Sussex) of St Andrew’s Church which dates from the 10th Century.

Lunch will be at the Eight Bells around 12:30.

There is a short afternoon walk (also with a few stiles) taking us to the west of the pub along open pasture and ancient deep cut tracks: it incorporates part of the Weald Way.

Walk led by Jan and Irwin (01293 883814 or 07808 720887, on the day).
