Introduction to Grasshoppers & Crickets (11/08/18) Saturday, 11th August 2018 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
There are just 27 native species of grasshoppers and crickets (Orthoptera) which makes them a relatively easy group to study and record. In recent years in Sussex we have seen some species decline, while others have expanded their distributions new species have arrived from the continent.
We start in the Seven Sisters Pump Barn, with a short introduction to the Orthoptera. Then we will explore the woodlands, meadows and chalk grassland of the Country Park looking for these insects learning more about their habits, their habitats, and how to identify them by both sight and sound.
