Walk - Everyone Welcome - Ashdown Forest (10/03/18) Saturday, 10th March 2018 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Meet at the Red Lion, Chelwood Gate, Haywards Heath, East Sussex RH17 7DE. (Explorer Map 135: TQ422302) at 9:30 when we will order our choices for lunch. The pub is conveniently located on the A275. The facilities at the pub will, unfortunately, not be available prior to the walk. We plan to start the walk from the car park at 9:45.

The morning walk is about 4.5 miles long and starts with great views over open heath to the South Downs, then descends into the valley of the Millbrook Stream, past the Chelwood Vachery and Braberry Ponds. The Ashdown Forest is the largest open access space in the South East and is a SSSI.

For the afternoon walk we drive approximately 1.5 miles into the Ashdown Forest to the Bradstone Car Park (near Wych Cross) from where we will go on a short 2 mile walk around Bradstone Warren with spectacular views to the North. We aim to start this walk around 14:00.

All are welcome to join us for these walks but there is always the option to come along for either just the morning or afternoon.
