Bat evening at Woods Mill - Members-only (22/09/17) Friday, 22nd September 2017 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Sussex is a county rich in bats. In fact all 18 of the UK’s native bat species can be found in the county, with many of these species having been recorded on our Trust reserves. Each species has specific habitat and diet preferences. Some hunt close to water, some like lightly wooded areas and others prefer heavy tree cover. Woods Mill, with its mix of ancient woodland, wet meadows and water bodies, is therefore a perfect place for bat watching.
We will start with a brief introduction to bats, then head out onto the reserve with bat detectors and torches in hand, hoping to see some bats foraging around the reserve. We will then head back to the mill for some drinks, to answer any outstanding questions and to meet some live bats from the Sussex Bat Hospital.
