Walk - Everyone Welcome (09/04/16) Saturday, 9th April 2016 9:45 AM - 3:30 PM

A Woodland and Farmland Walk

Meet in good time for a 9.45 start at the Eight Bells Inn, Bolney, RH17 5QW (Explorer Map 134 TQ261231) just west of the A23. As the Inn has a small car park we have been asked to park in the Primary School/Church car park which is sign posted off the A272. Travelling north from Brighton on the A23, turn off towards Cowfold on the A272. In a few hundred yards turn right immediately after Bolney Nurseries up a lane signed to Primary School and Church. The Eight Bells can be easily accessed through the churchyard walking to the right of the church.

The landlady has kindly agreed for us to use the facilities at the pub before we set off and I am sure those who would like a coffee can be catered for. Orders for lunch will be taken prior to departing on the walk.

The morning walk is approximately three and a half miles: it is mainly flat and probably muddy in places at this time of year. We will start off by visiting the Norman church of St Mary Magdalene before heading off on our walk to the north and mainly west of Bolney. We pass through farmland, woodland and also through local vineyards and orchards. We would expect to see many different spring flowers and an abundance of birds at this time of year.

Lunch will be at the Eight Bells Inn about 12.30.

The afternoon walk is relatively short at one and a half miles and takes us south mainly through farmland to Bolney Mill Ponds.

You are welcome to join us for either or both of the walks.
