Sussex Wildlife Trust is working hard for nature at this challenging time but we can only do so with your support.

Walk - Everyone Welcome (09/01/16) Saturday, 9th January 2016 9:45 AM - 1:45 PM

Meet in good time for a 9.45 departure from the Lancing Ring Nature Reserve car park (Explorer Map 122: TQ 182062). The car park is on the north side of the A27; it is reached by turning off the A27 into Manor Road (at a roundabout by the Pleasure Gardens, Lancing), then turn right on a bend into Mill Road, and after a short climb you will come to the car park on your left.

Due to the short day length at this time of year, there will only be a morning walk. It will be about five miles, with a total of four stiles. The walk will climb and descend, but is fairly easy. The steepest part of the walk is downhill, but fairly short and at the beginning.

This walk on the South Downs will offer a succession of magnificent views. It will take us down into the hamlet of Coombes where we can visit the Saxon Church and see the superb Norman wall paintings. We will then join the South Downs Way before climbing up Steep Hill (which is not as bad as it sounds!). The end of the walk takes us through woodland (part of the Lancing Ring Nature Reserve).

We will drive to The Marquis in Sompting (West St, BN15 0AP) for a late pub lunch (approximately 14:00). (The menu can be found at http://www.themarquissompting.co.uk)
