Common Woodland Bryophytes (26/02/16) Thursday, 26th February 2015 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

An introduction to bryophytes (mosses and liverworts), their taxonomy and ecology. We will learn the terminology and different parts of the plants before spending the morning identifying specimens indoors. After lunch we will venture into the woods where we will identify bryophytes in the field. Many of the plants are very small and the use of hand lenses is required throughout. Latin names will also be used in the absence of widely used English names.

This course will be about one half indoors and one half outdoors. Some botanical experience is suggested before attempting this course.
