Winter Sun
Sussex can seem a little drab in the short grey days of winter. So, when the winter sun does shine try to make the effort and get outside to find a Sussex landscape all lit up. The best times to capture the landscape are often around dawn and dusk when the sky can briefly be very colourful. You don’t need expensive equipment - any digital camera or smartphone can capture images to enjoy and share, but patience may be needed. I'm very lucky to live and work at Rye Harbour where the big skies and wetlands give endless opportunities. Here are my favourites from the last three sunny days...
before sunrise at the Mary Stanford lifeboat house
sunrise at the river mouth

a queen scallop lit up by the sun
backlit seedheads of the common reed, a two metre tall wetland grass
a grey plover in golden water
a black-tailed godwit finds a snack
a wetland sunset
