What's in a name?

These mini sunflowers are now flowering in our grassland and providing food for many insects, such as this Common Blue butterfly.

The flower is called Common Fleabane - from its former use as an incense to drive away insects.

Its binomial scientific name is Pulicaria dysenterica (Pulex is Latin for flea and one of its past uses was a treatment for dysentery).
