What are the chalkboards at Woods Mill?

2019 is Horsham District Council's Year of Culture, and they've got a great programme of events planned.

Sussex Wildlife Trust were delighted to discover that Woods Mills Nature Reserve has been chosen as one of their twelve "Hidden Gems"

To celebrate, the Trust's Education and Engagement staff team have put up a number of nature-related quotations on mini chalkboards, all around Woods Mill, for visitors to discover and enjoy. Director Pete Crawford says:

"We were really pleased to be named as one of Horsham District Council's twelve local Hidden Gems as part of their 2019 Year of Culture. We thought dotting these boards around the Reserve would encourage visitors of all ages to think and reflect as they explore."

"There are around fifteen boards at the moment, although we may add some more."

"Do come and have a hunt for them and let us know if you've got a favourite nature quotation we've missed!"

I love these boards, what a great idea! I’m looking forward to spotting them when I’m next out on the reserve. Can’t wait for the spring flowers to arrive…
