Sussex Wildife Trust 2018 Calendar

Brighton & Hove based wildlife photographer Lisa Geoghegan supports the work of the Sussex Wildlife Trust, a registered charity, through her wonderful photography.

Her stunning photographs feature exclusively in the 2018 Wildlife of Sussex printed calendar now available to buy through the Sussex Wildlife Trust online shop. Sales of the calendars will benefit nature conservation in the county and can be purchased postage free for five days from Thursday 15 November to Monday 19 November.

The cover features two little owls - small, but feisty birds of prey that can often be spotted perching on fence posts during the day. Other plates in the calendar include an intimate moment between a male and female kingfisher as the male passes her a fish as part of his courting ritual and a lovely study of one of our more common garden birds, the blue tit, collecting nesting material. Other species featured include snowdrop, kittiwake, cuckoo, white tailed bumble bee, water vole, fox, otter, fly agaric fungi and the stunning small tortoiseshell butterfly.

Also featured is Lisa’s favourite species, the brown hare and March shows a fabulous study of a drove of hares with two of them ‘boxing’. This behaviour happens when a female hare refuses the attentions of a male in no uncertain terms.

Lisa said, ‘Although my father is a wildlife film maker I only started to photograph wildlife ten years ago after completing a photography course. I have always loved animals but I decided wildlife was the subject I wanted to pursue and, when I had the opportunity to photograph a little auk blown off course from Iceland into Shoreham Harbour, I decided to concentrate on wildlife studies.’

The Sussex Wildlife Trust calendar priced at £8.99 (plus p&p) is available from:

Hello Lisa, I have the Wildlife of Sussex 2018 calendar and I was hoping the Trust would commission you for the 2021 year. Is there any such thing in print? Your photos are stunning! I am grateful that you do such beautiful work. 🙏🏼🍀
