Only four more days to stop the Arundel Bypass - please act now

By Jess Price

Conservation Officer

National Highway’s statutory consultation on this destructive road proposal is ending this Tuesday 8th March at 11.59pm. Please take 10 minutes to follow our guide and object to the proposal.

The Sussex Wildlife Trust has already submitted a detailed objection, but we need your help so that National Highways knows that we all want better not bigger roads in Sussex, that don’t destroy what’s left of our wonderful wildlife.

The mosaic of high quality habitats found across the Mid Arun Valley and Binsted Woods Complex area is the reason why it is so abundant in wildlife. This is an integrated and ancient ecosystem that allows bats, Dormice, Toads and reptiles to move through the landscape with ease. The proposed 8km road will sever all this, right across the landscape. It will degrade important woodlands and moves us completely in the wrong direction in terms of the climate and ecological emergencies. The fact is that we urgently need to reduce travel by private car, not spend millions of pounds building more roads.
