Meet the Trustees: Milly Rudling
Meet new Sussex Wildlife Trust Trustee Milly Rudling (any)
Tell us a bit about yourself
Hello! My name is Milly. I currently work as a software engineer and am passionate about design and accessibility within technology. I spend my free time doing crafts, gaming, and getting involved in anything related to nature that I can.
What drew you to becoming an Sussex Wildlife Trustee?
I had been volunteering with the Youth Rangers at The Deneway Nature Reserve in Brighton for a few years when the opening came up. A combination of the encouragement and confidence that I gained doing that, along with wanting to find a way to make more of an impact in this space, made me think this would be a brilliant opportunity. So I decided to go for it!

Do you have a particular area of interest (in management of the Trust or wildlife in general)?
On the wildlife side of things, I've always been a fan of the more 'unloved' animals like reptiles, amphibians, arthropods, and I have a soft spot for pigeons. When it comes to the Trust more specifically, I would love to get more involved with accessibility and inclusivity, I really want to help make the trust and our wild spaces in general a place for everyone.

What is your favourite wild space in Sussex?
I am very lucky to have grown up right near Woods Mill, and have lots of happy childhood memories there.
What would be your ideal Sunday afternoon?
This time of year its a lazy afternoon where I have gotten up early and got everything important done already, then I am able to relax and do a craft or play a video game. Bonus points if it's raining outside and there is a fire on the go to make it extra cosy.
Tell us something about you most people won’t know
I have a pet Tortoise named Herby!
