Jersey Tiger Moth in Eastbourne
Jersey Tiger Moth

A few days ago on 29 August 2015 whilst gardening near the front door of our house, my wife noticed a moth caught up in a spider's web. She knew the moth wasn't there the day before so she investigated and found that the moth was dead but still fully intact. The moth was removed from the web and put into a plastic container for a closer look which showed it to be a Jersey Tiger Moth. Close inspection of the underside of the moth (see photo) still shows traces of the spiders web and also some of the spider's legs so we can only assume there was quite a struggle between the spider and the moth with both ending up dead.
