Eastbourne Regional Group January 2024 evening talk

Last Thursday we had our first evening talk of the 2024 season, ‘The Long Walk’ by Michael Blencowe.

It was eagerly anticipated by our members and despite the bitterly cold weather over seventy turned up to welcome Michael back to Eastbourne. Once again we were treated to an entertaining presentation as Michael described his walk from Henfield to Plymouth. 

A series of slides consisting of beautiful photographs together with other illustrations were used to bring out the changes in landscape, wildlife and land use that Michael experienced as he made his journey along the South Downs Way, Clarendon Way and English Coastal Path back to Devon. 

With references to archaeology, palaeontology, social history, geomorphology and of course natural history we all left with broad smiles and a lot wiser. The words on most peoples lips were ‘we must visit some of those places’.
