Blue Monday is traditionally the most depressing day of the year and this year it will be 16th January. On that day, staff from Wild Coast Sussex gathering on the beach at 12 noon to dip a toe into the water and encourage wellbeing for the coming year by connecting with nature.

We know that Nature connection supports mental wellbeing; on the most depressing day of the year we are encouraging people to dip a toe into something new. We will be removing our socks and shoes to dip a toe in the sea to raise awareness but we’re also suggesting meditation and education for those who cannot make it to the beach, to allow individuals to dip a toe into the ocean of their mind.

Our aim is to connect Sussex communities with their beautiful Sussex coastline and as a result inspire them to save it.

We hope to make enough noise to reach those who may really benefit from enhancing their connection with Nature.

Wild Coast Sussex is funded thanks to National Lottery players and is a collaborative project across Sussex Wildlife Trust, Marine Conservation Society, Sussex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority and SeaLife Brighton.
