30 Days Wild this June
It’s an undisputed fact that a generation of children are growing up disconnected from nature and only one in ten children ever play in wild places says Pete Crawford of the Sussex Wildlife Trust.
Now, the leading nature conservation organisation in Sussex wants to do something about this and is challenging everyone who lives and works in the county to do something wild every day for the 30 days of June.
Called 30DaysWild, no activity is thought too small to count; put out water for the birds, look at butterflies and bugs in hedgerows and gardens, take a walk on the Downs or stroll on the beach or just spend a few minutes in a busy day to smell a wild flower or look at the sky - day or night– you never know what might be flying overhead. Birds, bats, butterflies and bees are part of everyday life – enjoy them.
To celebrate the launch of 30DaysWild 30 members of staff and volunteers from Sussex Wildlife Trust got together in Seven Acre Brook at Woods Mill nature Henfield to show their support and to encourage people to make room for nature.
A special 30DaysWild pack is there to help you and is free of charge. It contains a colour wallchart, stickers and ideas for ‘random acts of wildness’ to keep you in touch with nature.Sign up for your free pack at: 30 Days Wild or if you don’t have internet access telephone 01273 497523 for your pack.
