Deneway Youth Rangers (16 - 25 yrs old) - Brighton

- Overview of the role:
- Join our youth-led nature reserve project and gain essential skills in conservation whilst meeting like-minded young people. Work in partnership with Sussex Wildlife Trust staff and local groups to manage and transform the wonderful Deneway Nature Reserve in central Brighton.
- Type of tasks you will be involved with:
- Practical conservation tasks such as coppicing, hedge planting, green woodworking, composting, surveying and monitoring wildlife, pond maintenance, bird/bat boxes, scrub clearance, maintaining Forest School sites, basic bushcraft and more. The aim is to help improve areas for wildlife (and people) while having fun, learning new skills, gaining valuable experience and enhancing job and other volunteering prospects.
- Experience/Skills Required:
- No experience necessary. Everybody is very welcome. The site is readily accessible by public transport and bicycle.
- Days/Times we would like you to be available:
- Sessions are usually scheduled once a month from 10 am - 3pm on a Saturday, Friday or Wednesday. Registered Youth Rangers are advised about specific dates and can then sign up to attend.
- Benefits to volunteer & possible training opportunities:
- Meet new friends and learn about conservation and wildlife. Some travel expenses are available, please check for details.
All sessions are free to attend, but registration is essential (with consent required for under 18s).
